Prof. Minard begins by teaching the fundamentals of color mixing, color transitions, tonal range and various techniques of application. Students then move on to rendering still-lifes, landscapes, self portraits and abstract compositions.

The following projects focus on Design Elements such as Scale, Contrast, and Pattern. Other projects focus on perfecting tools in Adobe Illustrator. Prof. Minard also creates assignments that simulate real-world applications such as postcard and poster designs, as well as book cover layouts.
