Below is a collection of images from students in Rick Minard's various classes at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Jamestown Community College.
DRAWING
After teaching his students the fundamentals of line, texture, shading, perspective and composition, Prof. Minard encourages exploring both abstract and representational expression.
PAINTING
Prof. Minard begins by teaching the fundamentals of color mixing, color transitions, tonal range and various techniques of application. Students then move on to rendering still-lifes, landscapes, self portraits and abstract compositions.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
The following projects focus on Design Elements such as Scale, Contrast, and Pattern. Other projects focus on perfecting tools in Adobe Illustrator. Prof. Minard also creates assignments that simulate real-world applications such as postcard and poster designs, as well as book cover layouts.
MURALS
Every other year, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford offers a Mural Painting class. Below are two murals Prof. Minard helped students design and install.
